Hopkins Plaza is almost officially home to a sculpture by Wendy Ross. The installation of the piece has taken some time, but the last four petals should be in by early July.

The piece, entitled “Flora,” consists of eight petals and one center bud. Made from aluminum, it’s being installed in the Hopkins Plaza fountain and will look incredible once the water is turned on.

Anyone who has been through Hopkins Plaza lately has seen all the construction- the entire plaza is undergoing big improvements. It was a little stark before, but the renderings of the finished space are impressive.

Though incomplete right now, the sculpture adds so much to the plaza. We popped over yesterday and a family was sitting on the edge taking pictures, despite the horrific heat. Clearly, this is a family dedicated to art and renewal of public space.
